Cinis updates on production ramp-up

10.03.2025 – Regulatory information
The ramp-up of Cinis Fertilizer's first production facility has taken longer than expected. Cinis Fertilizer has today been informed that the company's technology and process supplier has determined that the facility was delivered with certain deficiencies. The technology and process supplier has presented a new action plan to reach full production capacity in 2025, which includes replacing a blower motor in accordance with the guarantees provided by the supplier.

The ramp-up of Cinis Fertilizer's production facility in Örnsköldsvik has taken longer than expected. Since production started in 2024, several measures and fine-tuning have been implemented and Cinis has systematically worked together with its technology and process supplier to increase production rates and availability.

Despite this, the production facility has not yet reached full capacity. Cinis’ primary technology and process supplier has, following a recent review and inspection of the process plant, today stated in a written statement that the plant's current production capacity is approximately 75,000 tons of potassium sulfate per year. In connection with the visit, a number of measures were taken, including a reprogramming of the control system, to increase stability and enable higher availability, i.e. to be able to run more of the hours of the day and year at high-capacity utilization without interruption.

During March 2025, Cinis, together with the technology and process supplier, will carry out additional measures, including the rerouting of a pipeline which will improve the water balance, and the replacement of a number of valves and flow meters. The planned measures are estimated by the technology and process supplier to increase capacity to the equivalent of 85,000 - 90,000 tons of potassium sulfate per year during April 2025.

Furthermore, the company's technology and process supplier estimates that the production capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year can be achieved by replacing a blower motor as a warranty matter. The supplier's assessment is that the blower motor can be delivered and installed in May 2025, and that the production plant can thereby achieve the ordered capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year. Cinis is awaiting a final delivery date from the technology and process supplier.

The plant was purchased with a process guarantee, which means that according to the agreement, it will only be paid for in full and handed over to Cinis Fertilizer when all stipulated capacity and quality parameters have been achieved.
