Cinis sends its first shipment of potassium sulphate to Van Iperen International
Just over 1.5 years ago, Cinis Fertilizer began the construction of its first modern and energy-efficient facility, with the goal of producing potassium sulphate with a minimal carbon footprint. Production began in May 2024, and now the first shipment has left the port for delivery to the customer Van Iperen International in the Netherlands.

Therefore, I am incredibly proud that, in an extremely short time, we have not only managed to build and start up an entirely new production facility but are now also delivering a high-quality product that actually reduces agriculture’s carbon footprint," continues Jakob Liedberg.
"We have now proven that it is entirely possible to produce potassium sulphate using a fossil fuel-free production process. With this cornerstone in place, we can now continue to grow the business and drive the transformation in the manufacturing of an essential mineral fertiliser product. Of the approximately 3,400 tonnes loaded, about two-thirds are of the highest quality and meet all specification requirements for water-soluble potassium sulphate. The remaining volume loaded will be sold to a few clients that do not require the absolute highest quality and was produced in the start-up phase, before the summer’s power outage.

Van Iperen International, a leading Dutch fertiliser producer with a presence in over 100 countries, has signed a ten-year agreement with Cinis Fertilizer to purchase the entire annual production of 100,000 tonnes of potassium sulphate from the facility in Köpmanholmen, outside Örnsköldsvik.
